Volunteering Opportunities in November and December

Conservation Volunteering in Scotland’s National Parks.

We are still planning on offering volunteering opportunities in Scotland’s National Parks throughout the winter. We will keep the tasks at a lower level so that hopefully snow will not stop us going out. We will also finish earlier so we aren’t out in the dark.

Before Christmas we’ve got four exciting activities for you to get involved with.

Wednesday 16th November
Glen Tanar – Cairngorms National Park
The activity will include reinstating the surfacing on a section of path that has been washed out, we will also be clearing some of the cross drains along the path.  We will be meeting at the Glen Tanar visitor centre car park at 10am and the activity will finish at approximately 3pm. There will be a free minibus from Aberdeen (Kingswell Park and Ride) leaving at 9am and also a pick up in Aboyne at 9.45am.

Saturday 19th November
Falls of Bruar – Cairngorms National Park
The activity will involve walking around the Falls of Bruar path, clearing the cross drains and water bars as we go. We will also be doing some vegetation clearance. We will be meeting at the House of Bruar car park at 10.30am and the activity will finish at approximately 3pm. There will be a free minibus from Balloch (opposite the train station) leaving at 8am and also a pick up in Perth (Broxden park and ride) at 9.30am.

Wednesday 7th December
Drystane Dyking – site near Balloch to be confirmed
We will be joined by a professional drystane dyker who will help us to repair a section of wall in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. The site is still to be confirmed, but it will be within a 15 minute drive from Balloch. We will meet on site at 10am and the activity will finish at 3pm. There will be a free minibus from Balloch at 9.45am.

Wednesday 14th December
Ben A’an – Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park
We will be doing a general maintenance run on this new path, this will involve clearing the drains and the ditches before winter sets in. The day will finish with some warm drinks and cake at a local cafe as a Christmas treat. We will meet at the Ben A’an car park at 10am and the activity will finish at 2pm. There will be a free minibus from Balloch at 9am.

The numbers for these activities are limited so get in touch as soon as possible to reserve your place. We are also able to reimburse up to £10 to help cover your travel expenses.
