Lloyds Banking Group Staff Stepping Up for Scotland's National Parks
During 2016 nine Lloyds Banking Group members of staff took part in three seperate activities as volunteers. This was part of our conservation volunteering days offered through the project where people help protect and enhance upland habitats.
Press release issued 20th December 2016SCOTLAND’s National Parks mountain paths are being given a serious overhaul with more than 24km of paths having been restored this year and another 100km of repairs planned over the next three and a half years. With some of the most impressive landscapes, historic towns and unique wildlife, it’s no wonder that Scotland’s two National Parks play host to over 5.5 million visitors each year. But huge numbers of visitors (and the Scottish weather!) comes at a price – the erosion of mountain paths and the destruction of nearby habitats.
Since we started the main delivery of The Mountains & The People project in April this year, volunteers have played a massive role in the work we have done. Volunteers have come from far and wide to help conserve the natural heritage of Scotland's National Parks and we've managed to achieve some great things.
