Next Step Volunteer led walks

20th May 2017 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Loch Kinord and Burn O’Vat – Deeside.   9.30am – 4.30pm

Badenoch and Strathspey Ramblers offer the opportunity to take a full day trip to discover some wonderful easy walking around Loch Kinord in Deeside.

We offer you the opportunity to car share with us and drive for just over an hour, over the Lecht, to the Burn O’Vat visitor centre car park, where we will begin the walk. You will enjoy pleasant easy paths around scenic Loch Kinord which offers abundant bird life as it’s part of the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve. There is also a crannog (old island settlement) with various prehistoric earthworks and stones and we will pass two old townships. After returning to the car park there is a chance to visit the interesting rock and cave formation of Burn O’Vat or spend time in the Visitors Centre.

We will leave at 9.30am and return at approx. 4.30pm.  The walk is 2.5 – 3 hours including stops but we will stop en route for tea/coffee and of course cake!

Distance – 7km, approx. 4 miles.

Please bring a packed lunch as we will be away for the day.  Also  bring waterproof clothing and sensible footwear.
