Dubh Loch – On our mountain maintenance volunteer tasks you will undertake what is known as a “drainage run”. This means walking the route of the path, with a member of The Mountains & The People team and other volunteers, clearing the drainage features as you go. Think of it as a nice walk on an iconic mountain in the National Park, with a spade. This work is vitally important to ensure the newly built paths are kept in a good condition.
We will be walking the Dubh Loch path which is one of the newly built paths in the Cairngorms National Park. Mountain maintenance days are physically active days in the Scottish mountains, be prepared for a long, steep walk, manual labour and lots of fresh air.
The meeting point is the Spittal of Glen Muick Car Park at 9.30am. Free transport is also available from Braemar.
To see the list of paths that our mountain maintenance volunteer task will be working on, have a look at our Paths page. There are 30 mountain maintenance volunteer tasks planned between June and October 2018.
