February 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
We will be working Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Ranger Service to help maintain a section of the West Highland Way. There will be a variety of tasks to help with including moving material, ditching and some path resurfacing work. The day will be moderate level, some walking and manual handling required.
The section of path we will be working on is north of Inversnaid and is quite remote. We will be accessing the West Highland Way by boat from Ardlui. The boat crossing will take approximately 15-20 minutes. We may not be able to access the site if weather conditions are unsuitable. If this is the case then we will drive further north and work on the West Highland Way near Beinn Ghlas.
You will need to bring appropriate clothing including lots of layers, hat, waterproofs and sturdy footwear. Steel toe capped boots are recommended. We have a supply of work gloves for volunteers and steel toe capped wellington boots which volunteers can borrow. If you would like to borrow boots then please let me know what size you require in advance. You will also need lunch, snacks and a drink. Please be aware there are no toilet facilities where we will be working.
Transport will be available from our office in Balloch at 8.30am and we aim to launch the boat from Ardlui by 10am. Due to the size of the boat, we are limited to 4 volunteers.
